There are two viewings times for family members -- 5-8 p.m. Friday and 3-8 p.m. Saturday at the Nelson-House Funeral Home located at 120 E. Mason St. in Owosso, Mich.

And a public funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday in the Owosso High School gymnasium. The school's address is 765 E. North St. in Owosso.

The Comstock Inn in downtown Owosso is offering a special rate for those attending the services. The hotel can be reached at 1-877-COMSTOCK.

Brad Van Pelt -- "an All-American boy, on the field and off" -- died unexpectedly Tuesday evening of an apparent heart attack at his home in Harrison, Mich. He was 57.

Van Pelt arrived at MSU from Owosso, a farming community about 35 miles from Lansing, in 1970. He went on to earn seven varsity letters, playing football, baseball and basketball, and is regarded as the university's last major three-sport athlete.
